<-- Back to the list of birth stories
Slept surprising well at home Sunday night and woke up refreshed and ready Monday morning. Got to the hospital about 8am and was eventually shown to my bed about 8:20
Firstly one of the surgeons came to see me and took me through the c-section and then scared the life out of me with all the worst case scenarios and then i had to sign all the consent forms. I was now feeling very nervous!
Next came the anethatists (sp) or tweeddle dee and tweedle dum as we liked to call them. They explained that because of the placenta previa and the bigger risk of bleeding i may not be able to have a spinal block. 10 Mins after they went the phone call came saying that i could have a spinal after all.
Then the bad news came. They had decided because the c-section was higher risk then normal they wanted a Consultant to perform it and yes you guessed it there wernt any consultants around until the afternoon so we were told to get comfy and to wait.
At 1pm we were eventually called down to the theatre, as by that time I was so peed off with waiting I wasnt nervous at all Steve went off to get gowned up and I went in for my spinal block. It only took them a couple of mins to put in the spinal and it didnt really hurt at all, but when it started to work I started to panic (yes I am a yellow chicken) I should have realised I would have been like this as I was the same when I had my section with Lucy (as my sister loves reminding me) all the staff were trying to calm me down but I was really upset and started begging for a GA. Just as Steve came into theatre looking silly he was escorted out again and the GA administered. Next thing I remember is waking up with a cute bundle of joy next to me and Steve grinning from ear to ear. Although he hadnt witnessed the birth (which I feel really bad about) he did hear him come into the world
